Seedsigner is an open-source, air-gapped Bitcoin signing device for secure offline key management.
- Sign transactions via Qr-Code, SeedSigner uses the UR standard to sign off-line transactions, so your seed is never exposed to the Internet.
- Generate seed from dice rolls, each roll of the die produces a random number, which is then used to create the seed.
- Generate seed from picture, using data from an image via the camera to obtain a random source to create a seed.
- Import seed from QR code, SeedSigner lets you easily inscribe this seed on a qrcode, thanks to the famous "SeedQR" standard.

One of the most innovative aspects of SeedSigner is the use of immutable consumer hardware. Unlike specialized hardware wallets, SeedSigner relies on components whose future use is not predefined at the time of their manufacture. This creates an additional barrier against supply chain attacks, as the hardware is neutral and not specifically designed for a crypto wallet. As a result, any attempt to insert a backdoor during manufacturing becomes extremely complex and unlikely. One of the key elements of SeedSigner is the Raspberry Pi Zero, a general-purpose mini-computer, without a pre-installed operating system and without integrated flash memory. That is, it does not have the ability to permanently store data in its electronic components and works exclusively with a custom external operating system, in our case "SeedSignerOS", loaded from a MicroSD card temporarily in RAM and loses its contents when the device is turned off. Additionally, the Raspberry Pi Zero 1.3 has neither Wi-Fi nor Bluetooth, a truly air-gapped mini-computer, the signature is carried out by an exchange of QrCode via an OV5647 type camera which is also a consumer component whose use is not predefined at the time of their manufacture and which does not have internet connectivity either. Updates are made from the microSD card.

That’s entirely up to you! We recommend self-building SeedSigners, as this provides an additional layer of security compared to a pre-assembled unit. If you do prefer a pre-assembled unit, our pre-assembled devices are securely shipped with a tamper-evident seal, which clearly indicates if the unit has been opened after leaving us. However, as long as you securely install the OS onto the MicroSD card yourself, the device cannot be tampered with.
